Abstract

Cultural criticism is among the literary theories that emerged post-modernity and structuralism in the modern era,
significantly contributing to the realm of critical studies. Cultural criticism concerns itself with the examination
of cultural themes to uncover a range of inquiries, including cultural concepts, cultural patterns, and cultural
genres within literary and artistic output. Furthermore, this study delves into investigating how cultural patterns
are reflected in textual discourse, distinct from the literary and artistic critique associated with Aristotelian
standards, designed to classify literary and artistic genres and discern elite from popular productions, through the
employment of language, rhetoric, and aesthetics. This study aims to unveil the underlying and concealed cultural
pattern beneath the apparent aesthetic structure in the play “The Deaf” by the playwright “Farhad Pirbal.” The
play narrates a conflict between the idealized realm of the calm individual and the real world filled with clamor,
violence, and the dominance of cultural industries
